A Survey Of The Modern Developments
By Mark Dever

Behind the centrality of expositional preaching is the assumption of the authority and truthfulness of God’s Word. At a recent meeting with the pastoral assistants here at Capitol Hill Baptist Church, I gave a quick bibliography of the history of the controversy over inerrancy. I thought it might be useful for you, too. Many of these books will be well known to those of you who are my age and older, but many may not be known to those of you who are younger. Here, then, are some resources for you about the matter of biblical inerrancy. Of the making of books on inerrancy, there is no end. Ours has not been the first generation to deal with the questions at the root of it, and, if the Lord tarries, ours will not be the last. Though the discussion changes—now we’ve largely moved on to discussions of epistemology, hermenuetics, postmodernism and biblical theology—we continue to assume what we have learned, particularly in the massive amount of reflection that went on in the 20th century among evangelicals about this issue.

Is Fulfilled Prophecy of Value for Scholarly Apologetics?
John A. Bloom

During the past twenty years, evangelical Christian apologetics has made significant progress in some areas. Today in the field of philosophy, the Christian theist has access to a secular audience and is able to challenge openly the assumptions of skeptics and atheists [Plantinga, Willard]. In the field of astrophysics, the concept of an infinitely old universe has fallen upon hard times, and the notion of “a creation event” is generally recognized [Jastrow, Ross]. Statements of the anthropic cosmological principle (”It’s as if the universe were exquisitely tuned, almost as if to accommodate us”1 are even finding their way into introductory physics and astronomy textbooks.)

The Preparation to Become An Apologist

Dr. Johnson C. Philip & Dr. Saneesh Cherian
Revised by David R. Delgado

As we begin the twenty-first century, attacks directed against the Christian Faith are growing at an exponential rate, and no Christian remains unaffected. By now, every professing Christian has experienced some sort of opposition, whether in school, at home, or at the office. Friends, relatives, or colleagues have asked pointed questions that, in effect, attack the Christian’s faith. The options are always clear: either give us a satisfactory answer, or quit talking about your faith around us.

How Do You Look At Evidence
John N. Clayton

I thought that our daughter Wendy was the master of negative body language. When Wendy did not like something, even as a small child, she would stand with her hand on her hip, look at us, and roll her eyes in a way that left absolutely nothing to the imagination.

Stages In An Apologetic Confrontation
Dr. Johnson C. Philip & Dr. Saneesh Cherian

The word “confrontation” upsets many, including Christians, today because activities like taking a stand, showing the difference, separation, etc. are anathema to the present generation steeped in Moral Relativism. However, the Scripture commands God’s children to discriminate between good and evil, and to confront and oppose evil. Thus the Christian Apologist should be ready for confrontation, but in the spirit of meekness and humility. With that in mind, the Apologist should take the following steps:

How To Use Apologetics
Dr. Johnson C. Philip & Dr. Saneesh Cherian

Christian Apologetics is a powerful system of communication. This power is enhanced when a person becomes acquainted with the Tools of Apologetics. However, the mere possession of tools does not make him powerful. On the contrary a tool in the hands of an unskilled person would only make it destructive. Witness the proverbial Monkey With A Razor In His Hand.
